Ce que je préfère dans ce voyage en voilier, ce sont les escales. Pourquoi ne pas prendre plutôt l’avion ou le bus ? Ce n’est pas si simple…

Ce qui est beau dans le voyage en bateau, c’est qu’il met en condition. La monotonie, la lenteur et les milles parcourus préparent à la découverte. Et quelles arrivées ! On voit un oiseau, un bateau, on aperçoit la côte, on s’impatiente jusqu’au moment d’entrer dans le port, en plein cœur de la ville en lui découvrant un visage que personne d’autre ne voit.

Cela change des terminaux d’aéroport, des gares d’autobus lugubres et des faubourgs tristes qu’il faut communément traverser.

Comme s’il voyageait en camping-car, le navigateur promène sa maison d’escales en escales. D’ailleurs, chaque port ou marina s’apparente à un camping : on y a un emplacement, un accès à l’électricité (parfois au wifi), ainsi qu’à des sanitaires et à une laverie ; on peut y faire le plein et trouver une épicerie ou un bar.

What is beautiful in a sailing trip is that it brings you into the good conditions. The monotony, the slowness and the miles travelled prepare you for the discovery. And how beautifull are the arrivals! You see a bird, a boat, you notice the costs, you get impatient and when you enter the port, in the heart of the city, you discover a face that no one else sees.

Such a difference with airport terminals, dismal bus stations and sad suburbs that we have to cross sometimes .

Moreover, each port or marina is similar to a campsite: there is a location, you can fill up with water, you have access to electricity, sometimes to wifi, there is a reception, toilets and in general a laundry, a bar or a grocery store.
